what diversity means to Holy Family college:
Holy Family College believes diversity is integral to the educational and developmental experience of all learners. As a college community, we strive to be inclusive, recognizing and valuing opportunities to integrate dimensions of diversity in broadening our interpretation and understanding of humanity. We respect and uphold the many facets of human identity in helping support and strengthen our college mission, vision and values.
Diversity, for us, is best embodied through the Franciscan value of “reverence for creation”; therefore, we see diversity as including, but not limited to age, ethnicity, gender, race, physical qualities and abilities, learning style, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, as well as religious status, educational background, geographical location, marital status, parental status and work experiences.
The SLC Council for Diversity and Inclusion serves in an advisory and functional capacity and housed under Mission Integration. The council proposes, implements, maintains and evaluates structures, programs, and outcomes to ensure a sustained commitment to understanding, respecting, and valuing diversity and inclusion at Holy Family College. The Council is populated by members from all corners of the campus community, including students, to ensure campus wide collaboration.
